Although I’ve become your typical computer geek throughout college, it wasn’t always so. As a kid, I loved football and even played a few games with my friends (though I incidentally never made the team in high school). I took an interest in computers at around that time and was able to build my first PC from scratch in my senior year. It wasn’t something I actively hid, but people are finding out that the football fan could also help them build awesome computers on the cheap was met with some surprise.

I spent a fair amount of time-defying that stereotype and still do today, though now it’s been reversed. Of course, I still like football.

My favorite anime tends to come from the shonen and mecha genres. The first mecha anime I enjoyed was Mobile Suit Gundam. Incidentally, it wasn’t the first anime I watched, but it did take my enjoyment of it to the next level. I followed many other successor series in the franchise, but few can compare with the OG itself.

Gundam was the gateway that led me to Gunpla and mecha collecting later in life. My current collection is modest, limited as I am by the size of my apartment, but varied. Besides Gundam, I’ve also got models of other mechas. I even made a few kitbashes (custom models made from odd parts), including my own custom model and one I painted in the colors of the Chargers.

Some of my other favorite anime include Eyeshield 21, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Tenga Toppen Gurren Lagann, One Piece, One Punch Man, Mazinger Z, and the Robot Romance Trilogy. I also enjoy movies from Studio Ghibli.
